Canada-Based Nigerian Woman Under Probe For Threatening Genocide

A Nigerian woman living in Canada, Amaka Sunnberger, is currently under investigation for making threats to poison Nigerians of Yoruba and Benin descent.
The Toronto Police Service has confirmed that an investigation is underway, with Sergeant Bassey Osagie stating, “This incident has been reported to the Toronto Police Service and is currently under investigation.”
The House of Representatives and the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission have also taken action, petitioning Canadian authorities to investigate and prosecute Sunnberger. This follows the circulation of a viral TikTok video in which Sunnberger, during a live session, threatened mass killings of Yoruba and Benin individuals residing in Canada. She boasted about living in Ontario and claimed she would poison the food and water of Nigerians at her workplace.
In response to the viral threat, the Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, revealed Sunnberger’s identity and sent a petition to the Mayor of Brampton, Patrick Brown, to draw attention to the issue.
The House of Representatives also issued a letter to the Canadian government, urging the prosecution of Sunnberger. The letter, addressed to Canadian High Commissioner to Nigeria, Jamie Christoff, stated that her inflammatory remarks posed a direct threat to Nigerians and requested a thorough investigation.
Despite the calls for her arrest, Sunnberger appeared unbothered in a follow-up video, where she dismissed the possibility of being deported, asserting her Canadian citizenship. Speaking in Pidgin English, she expressed intense hatred for Yoruba and Benin people and detailed her plans to poison their food and water, vowing that her animosity towards them would last forever.
Her shocking statements have sparked widespread outrage, leading to demands for swift legal action against her.
