Kanayo O Kanayo says ritual’s not a means of making money

Phenomenal Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo in a town hall meeting held recently discredited the myth that money can be made through rituals and killing people.
The actor harped on the importance of genuine hard work in earning money.
Kanayo, who is known for his roles as a ritualist in Nollywood movies, was a guest speaker at Ikenga Online’s November 2023 Town Hall Meeting on the topic “Rituals, Riches, and Realities: The Myths of Money-Making and the Dignity of Labour.”
He highlighted the shift in scams over the years, mentioning the old ‘Yahoo’ trend of writing letters and promising utopian deals. According to Kanayo, today’s trend involves extreme acts like killing someone, eating their heart, and washing it down with Hennessy, all in the belief that it will bring wealth.
The veteran actor firmly stated, “I can’t see any connection between that and making money. Money is made through hard work.”
While sharing his personal experience, Kanayo mentioned laying the foundation of his house in 2015 and making a compromise in 2016 when Globacom signed him for a nationwide campaign.
He joked about sacrificing a new Range Rover for the sake of completing his house, emphasizing the importance of making compromises through hard work.
Since his debut as a ritualist in the 1992 movie ‘Living in Bondage,’ Kanayo O Kanayo has consistently spoken out against the act, challenging false narratives surrounding rituals and money-making.
