PCRC Celebrates 40th Anniversary, Honors Lagos CP, Deacon Clark

The Southwest Geopolitical zone of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) celebrated its 40th anniversary in grand style on Thursday.
The event, held at the POWA Multipurpose Hall, saw members from across the South West region gather to honour distinguished Nigerians who have significantly contributed to improving policing in Nigeria.
One of the ceremony’s highlights was the recognition of Lagos Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, and business leader Deacon Loius Clark.
Upon being named a patron for PCRC, Deacon Clark expressed his elation and attributed the recognition to divine intervention. “I give God all the glory because it is divine, I never expected it,” he said.

Deacon Clark Vows to Strengthen Police-Community Relations
In an interview with reporters, Deacon Clark elaborated on the significance of the award and his plans for the future.
“It’s a way for me to continue what I’m doing,” he explained, referencing his longstanding collaboration with the police. “I’ve been working with them for years and when I see them do the wrong thing I say this is not good.”
Deacon Clark emphasized the importance of community involvement in promoting effective policing. “People must know that it’s not just about the police, but the people help the police to do the work,” he said.
He sees the award as a springboard for further contributions. “They say to whom much is given, much is expected,” Deacon Clark remarked. “It is a milestone for me because all eyes will be on me in my division where they will expect me to do more.”
The new PCRC patron urged the public to play a proactive role in strengthening police relations. “My advice to the public is not just a flick,” he said. “When you live your life, people around you are watching.”
He highlighted the importance of integrity and good character, stating, “What it means is that any endeavour you find yourself in, put out your best. People are watching you.”

Deacon Clark Outlines His Vision for Improved Policing
Deacon Clark expressed his commitment to fostering stronger ties between the police and civil society. “To step up my efforts to police relations with civil societies and it’s not going to be as usual,” he declared.
He emphasized his newfound ability to advocate for improved policing practices. “I can go to the CP and write a letter as a patron that the DPO of a community is not doing well,” he explained.
Deacon Clark’s recognition and dedication serve as a beacon of hope for enhanced collaboration between the police and the public in Nigeria.
