Nigeria National League Club Owners and Managers Association (NALCOMA) has praised Abakaliki United Football Club for their impressive performance in the ongoing 2025 President Federation Cup.

In a statement issued in Lagos on Wednesday, NALCOMA President, Godwin Enakhena, congratulated the Ebonyi-based club for reaching the final of the tournament, describing their journey as “inspiring and proof that the Nigeria National League (NNL) is filled with quality teams and talented players.”

“Abakaliki United have made us all proud. They’ve shown great character and determination by beating three Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) clubs on their way to the final,” Enakhena said.

The “Rice Boys” on Wednesday defeated NPFL new sensation Ikorodu City of Lagos on penalties in a tensed semi-final match after the game ended goalless in regulation time.

Before that, they knocked out former champions Enyimba FC and Nasarawa United in earlier rounds.

Enakhena, who also serves as Chairman of Sporting Lagos FC, encouraged the team to aim even higher by winning the cup.

“They should be proud of how far they’ve come, but they’re not done yet. I urge them to go for the trophy. They can take inspiration from what El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri did last year by winning the cup against all odds,” he said.

He also applauded the club’s coaches, management, and players for their hard work and unity, noting that their achievements are even more remarkable considering the fact that the club is relatively young.

“What Abakaliki United has achieved is a big deal. They’ve put Ebonyi State on the football map and inspired many young players.”

Abakaliki United’s story has captured the hearts of fans across Nigeria, with many calling them the “giant killers” of the tournament.

Their fairytale run to the final has brought pride to the NNL and renewed belief in the strength of grassroots football in the country.

Abakaliki Football Club will face Kwara United in the final after the Ilorin-based club also emerged victorious in the other semi final clash against Rangers International.
