Group Counters Allegation That Chairmanship Aspirant Is Not Resident in Agege

A civil society group in Agege, Youths for Agege Development, led by Mr. Taiwo Ajibola, has refuted claims by some residents and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) that a chairmanship aspirant in Orile Agege, Hon. Oluyinka Ogundimu, is not a resident of the area.
Speaking at a press conference in Orile Agege on Wednesday, Ajibola questioned the origin of such allegations, insisting that Hon. Ogundimu, a former member of the Lagos State House of Assembly (2011–2023), has lived his entire life in Agege.
According to him, Ogundimu’s family has deep roots in the area: his grandfather’s house is at No. 50 Ipaja Road, his father’s house at No. 92 Orile Road, and his own residence at No. 103 Orile Road—all in Agege.
Ajibola dismissed the allegations as “dirty politics,” saying: “The people of Orile Agege know their own. Hon. Yinka Ogundimu was born and raised here and has never lived outside the area. Those spreading false claims that he is not a resident are simply playing politics.”
He urged the APC to respect the will of the people, asserting that Ogundimu won the primary election and should be recognised as the legitimate candidate for the Orile Agege LCDA chairmanship.
“The person currently being promoted as the party’s candidate is being imposed on the people, and this will not stand.
“Our party, the APC, is known for upholding democratic values. I don’t understand why some people did what they did at the APC secretariat on Saturday, May 10, 2025,” he added.
Ajibola expressed confidence in the leadership of the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing them as true democrats.
“We believe the irregularities that occurred at Acme will be addressed and that the rightful winners of the primary elections will be allowed to contest,” he said.
He concluded by urging the residents of Orile Agege to remain peaceful and patient, expressing optimism that justice would prevail and the will of the people would be respected.
