OFFICIAL: Amusan Sets Another Record in Rabat

World record holder Tobi Amusan made a powerful statement at the 2025 Rabat Diamond League on Sunday, winning the women’s 100m hurdles in a Meeting Record (MR) and Season’s Best (SB) time of 12.45 seconds.

Amusan’s performance eclipsed the previous MR of 12.51s set by Brianna McNeal in 2018. Nadine Visser of the Netherlands placed second in 12.67s, while Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska came third in 12.69s.

Following a slow start to the season, the Nigerian hurdler credited a shift in training for her resurgence:
“More hurdles practice, cos I have been doing more sprinting. It was after the first two Diamond League meetings, I knew I had to go back to doing more hurdle drills. Two weeks in, I can tell the difference.”

The Rabat win marks Amusan’s strongest showing yet in 2025 and positions her as a key contender for the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this September.

Simbine Claims Another 100m Victory

In the men’s 100m, South Africa’s Akani Simbine secured his third Diamond League win of the season, clocking 9.95s ahead of Kenya’s Ferdinand Omanyala (10.05) and the USA’s Fred Kerley (10.07).

“I feel great, I feel confident… Another sub-10 in the bag,” Simbine said.
“It’s amazing to have this kind of competition in Africa… showcasing African talent and show the world that we can host great meets.”

The Rabat meet delivered standout performances across the board, setting the stage for a highly competitive summer leading up to Tokyo 2025.
