SON certifies Innoson vehicles as fit

The Innoson brand of vehicles manufactured by Innoson Vehicles Manufacturing Limited has been certified by the Standard Organization of Nigeria(SON) to have met all international standards and therefore fit to be used in Nigeria and beyond.

The Director-General, SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Okeke, stated this on Tuesday, while presenting ISO 9001: 2015 and MANCAP certificates to the auto company during its 13th anniversary held at Nnewi, Anambra state.

Okeke, who was represented by Director, South East, SON, Fred Akingbesote, said awarding the certificates to Innoson Vehicles showed that the company went through a rigorous process of inspections and quality assurance in the last five years or even more and also demonstrated compliance to the relevant product standards and is providing products that meet consumer expectations and offer value for money among other 

“With the award of MANCAP’s certificate to Innoson brand of vehicles, we are demonstrating how standardization and conformance to standard offer strategic opportunities for increased efficiency, set benchmarks, and help promote Made-In-Nigeria products to the international market, as this award will boost Innoson’s brand across borders. We are in effect saying that Innoson is fit to be used in Nigeria and beyond,” he said.

Earlier in his welcome address, Innoson Chairman, Innocent Chukwuma, said in pursuit of perfection, the company has upgraded its factory from manual production to semi-automation and then to standard automation, which has seen its production capacity rise from 10, 000 vehicles to 60, 000 vehicles per year.

He said this translates to a 500 percent increase in the production of vehicles from the company.

Chukwuma said the company has bought robot painting equipment, which when installed, will reduce operating costs, increase productivity, and improve product quality, leading to higher customer satisfaction.

He said the company has also introduced African specifications in the production of vehicles by bringing in the concept of regionalization in the production of vehicles by making sure it considers the African environment, local tastes, and consumer preferences in the region during the production of vehicles.

He noted that the 13th anniversary is a celebration of perfection and the accrued benefits in its pursuit of perfection, which is the award to Innoson Vehicle of the ISO 9001: 2015 (Quality Management System and MANCAP by the Standards Organization of Nigeria.

Chukwuma gave the assurance that Innoson Vehicles will continue to employ international best practices in the production of its vehicles so that they can compare favorably in terms of durability, fuel economy, and safety.
