Victor Olatunji Strikes Late to Secure Sparta Prague’s 2-1 Victory Over Sigma Olomouc

Nigerian striker Victor Olatunji delivered another decisive performance for Sparta Prague, coming off the bench to net the winning goal in their 2-1 triumph over Sigma Olomouc in a Chance Liga clash on Saturday.
Olatunji’s late strike marked his second consecutive goal in back-to-back games for the Czech league leaders.
Earlier in the week, he found the net in Sparta’s 3-0 victory over Opava in the MOL Cup. His match-winning effort against Sigma Olomouc in the 87th minute took his season tally to seven goals in the Czech Republic’s top flight.
The victory propelled Sparta Prague to second place in the league standings, now trailing Slavia Prague by ten points. However, Slavia holds a game in hand, maintaining their advantage at the top.

Match Recap
Sparta Prague opened the scoring in the 25th minute when Jan Kuchta converted a close-range effort following a well-executed corner routine. However, Sigma Olomouc responded just 12 minutes later, with Filip Zorvan finishing off a fluid team move to bring the game level at 1-1.
With the match finely poised, Sparta Prague head coach Tomas Janotka introduced Olatunji in the 61st minute, replacing Albion Rrahmani.
The Nigerian forward made an immediate impact, creating an early chance that sailed just wide of the target.
However, Olatunji made no mistake in the 87th minute. He latched onto a precise long pass from Jaroslav Zelený before calmly slotting the ball past Sigma Olomouc’s goalkeeper, Jan Koutný, to seal the crucial victory for Sparta Prague.
Olatunji’s Impact
Olatunji’s stellar performance earned him a 7.5 rating from Flashscore, and he was deservedly named the Player of the Match for his decisive contribution.
The victory keeps Sparta Prague in the title race as they set their sights on closing the gap with leaders Slavia Prague.
Their next challenge will be a highly anticipated Prague derby against Slavia on March 8, a fixture that could play a pivotal role in shaping the league title race.
