World Archery Applauds Nigeria Archery Federation on AGM

The World Archery Federation Africa has applauded the Nigeria Archery Federation (NAFED) on the successful Annual General meeting (AGM) held 10 March 2025, in Abuja.

President of World Archery Africa, Mr. Ahmed Tarik Amiri, gave the commendation while giving his address at Meeting held at the ANOCA Secretariat, Jahi, Abuja.

As the President of World Archery Africa, Mr.Ahmed Tarik Amiri said he was really amazed on the calibre of highly placed important personalities he met at the AGM which include, the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Dr. Aisha A. Baju, Major General D.S. Abdullahi,Engr. Augustine Chigbogu, D.C.G. Oladipo Ogundele, Dr. Rabiu Mohammed, Senator Babajide Omoworare and Prof. Musa Success among others.

According to him, for NAFED to put up such a flawless AGM within the first quarter of the year, that, it means that Nigeria Archery is on the right track.

He described the AGM as a landmark achievement and pleaded with the NAFED Executive Committee led by Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, to ensure that the same energy he saw at the AGM maintained in all their activities.

The Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) was represented by, Mrs Gloria Ekpempu While Dr. Rabiu Mohammed and Mr. Malk Ibrahim were representatives of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa(ANOCA)In his welcome address, the President of the Nigeria Archery Federation, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, thanked all the delegates and other stake holders from across the country for their physical presence.

He acknowledged commended the Nigeria Olympic Committee, World Archery Africa, the National Sports Commission and the parent body, World Archery Federation for all their support and guidance during the trouble period of Nigeria Archery and assured that their individual and collective contributions towards the pursuit of the common goal and objective in the year under review which is to develop Archery beyond it’s present position in Nigeria will never be taken for granted.

That is why NAFED activities for the year has been triggered at reinforcing the objectives of the stakeholders, setting up structures and promoting the ideals of Archery development Mohammed informed that the Federation only started proper development of Association, Archery Clubs and Archery Academies in 2017 under their capable and collective resolve as a board and today, the board is proud to state that Archery is a household name in Nigeria today and a force to be reckoned with within the sporting fraternity not to talk of the International level.due to the expansion it garnered in recent time.

Records, show that Archery Associations have been established, recognized and being practiced in so many states like, Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Delta, Edo, Enugu, FCT, Gombe, Imo , Kadina, Kano, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Ogun, Osun, Oyo and Zamfara State.

While many Archery Clubs and Academies have equally been established across the country.These include, Abuja Archery Academy, Lakkii Archery Club,Arch Archery Club of Abuja, Zen Archery Club of Lagos, Nigeria Police Archery Club, Defence Archery Club for the Military, Nigeria Navy Archery Club, Nigeria Air Force Archery Club and the ICON Archery Club of Abuja that was unveiled and launched at the AGM.

To show that the Federation is leaving now stone unturned towards Archery development in the country, Mohammed Baba Abdullahi, the President also unveiled and presented letters to he newly appointed patrons.They include, Senator Babajide Omoworare, DIG, Dr, Aisha A. Baju.Major General GS Abdullahi,Prof. Musa Success, Dr. Obi Asika, Chief Librous Oshomo.

Vice President of NAFED, Engr. Augustine Chigbogu in his words, praise the World Archery President Africa, Mr Ahmed Tarik Amiri for finding time to be at the NAFED AGM.

Stating that his presence was a big boost for Nigeria quest for more glories in Africa and promised to give his best to ensure that the sport of Archery grows beyond it’s present position in Africa and beyond.

He described Nigeria as a great force to be reckoned with when it comes to sports and Archery can never be an exception. while the 2nd Vice president, DCG Oladipo Ogundele urged stakeholders to see themselves as one indivisible family and advised all hands to be on deck.

Meanwhile The Defence team of the Nigeria Military Club and the Nigeria Police Archery Club emerged men and women champions at the two-day Archery Club championship held at the Package ‘B’ of thet Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja to kick start the 2025 Archery activities
