Obasa reappointed as Speaker, Lagos Assembly

A former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has been reappointed to lead the House.
Obasa was reappointed after the former Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Meranda, resigned at a plenary session she presided over on Monday.
After her resignation, Meranda was reappointed as the Deputy Speaker.
Meranda’s reappointment came shortly after she resigned as the speaker on Monday at an emergency plenary session she presided over.
Three other Principal Officers of the House resigned before Meranda.
Those who resigned were the Deputy Speaker, Mojeed Fatai; Chief Whip, Setonji David; and Deputy Chief Whip, Sani Okanlawon, has resigned.
After the resignation of the Chief Whip and Deputy Chief Whip, David was reappointed as the Deputy Chief Whip.
After his resignation, Fatai was reappointed as the Chief Whip.
The resignation and reappointment was to allow for a return to the pre-January 13, 2025 era where Obasa was the Speaker of the Assembly.
