BREAKING: 2025 AFCON Qualifies: CAF Awards Aborted Libya vs Nigeria Match To Super Eagles, Fines Libya $50,000

CAF has taken the following decision regarding the aborted match between Libya and the Super Eagles of Nigeria:
- The Libya Football Federation has been found to have breached Article 31 of the African Cup of Nations Regulations, as well as Articles 82 and 151 of the CAF Disciplinary Code.
- Match No.87, Libya vs. Nigeria, in the CAF African Cup of Nations Qualifiers 2025 (scheduled for October 15, 2024, in Benghazi) is declared a forfeit loss by Libya, with a score of 3-0 awarded to Nigeria.
- The Libya Football Federation is ordered to pay a fine of USD 50,000.
- The fine must be paid within 60 days of receiving this decision.
- All other motions or requests for relief have been dismissed.
CAF’s decision grants the Super Eagles of Nigeria 3 points and 3 goals in the qualification standings, significantly improving their chances of securing a spot in the tournament.
