3rd African U-18/U-20 Athletics Championships:Serving Nigeria and Africa as part of LOC is an honour – Nwoko

One of the constituted members of the Organising committee for 3rd African U-18/U-20 Athletics Championships, Ms. Chichi Nwoko has said it is an honour for her to serve on the committee while also promising to bring her wealth of experience to bear as the country looks forward to hosting a world-class tournament.

The CEO of Team33 Production, renowned for producing premier events such as the African Athletics Championship, the National Sports Festival, the Access Bank City Marathon, the Enugu City Marathon, the Nigeria Premier Football League, The African Cup of Nations (CAF), and FIFA matches, expressed confidence that with the facilities available in Abeokuta—particularly the MKO Abiola Sports Complex—the world can expect outstanding performances from the athletes participating in the competition.

“I would like to appreciate the leadership of the National Sports Commission, especially the Director General, Hon. Bukola Olopade, for the opportunity to serve on the committee,” she said.“Ogun State is currently hosting the National Sports Festival, and the decision to bring the Athletics Championships here is a testament to the world-class facilities that have been put in place. I’m proud to be part of this landmark event.”

“I am looking forward to working with other members to achieve success with the game and let the world, especially Africa, know that we still remain the Giant of Africa.”

The NSC recently constituted the LOC for the championships, scheduled to hold from July 16 to 20, 2025, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.The LOC comprises 15 distinguished professionals with proven expertise in sports administration and corporate affairs.Director General of the NSC, Hon. Bukola Olopade, will serve as Chairman of the Organising Committee, while the Ogun State Commissioner for Sports, Hon. Wasiu Isiaka, has been appointed Vice Chairman.Others on the committee, apart from Nwoko, are Gowon Akpodona of Guardian Newspaper, Osaze Ubueze (Corporate Nigeria), Ms. Rosa Collins, Enefiok Udo-Ubong, among others.
