Battle for Supremacy: Dambe SuperFight 03 Hits Abuja
Dambe Warriors League (DWL), the premier sports brand dedicated to promoting Nigeria’s ancient martial art of Dambe, is excited to announce that SuperFight 03 will be held at the Velodrome in Abuja on September 15th, 2024. This announcement comes on the heels of a formal endorsement the Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture and Crearive Economy , and the Federal Ministry of Tourism which signified a watershed moment for the company.
Anthony Okeleke, co-founder of Dambe Warriors stated: “Abuja has always been a wonderful host city for Dambe. The Velodrome is an amazing venue that will accommodate SuperFight 03 phenomenally. We anticipate a sell-out crowd of approximately 10,000 spectators and are confident that the event will not only entertain, but will also educate millions about this important Nigerian cultural tradition.”
SuperFight 03 will be comprised of nine Dambe bouts including three championship fights and six promotional fights.
In the Lightweight championship, Season 02 champion YAR MAGE will face off against rookie NASSARAWA. Each warrior put on strong showings throughout the regular season, with MAGE finishing with a 4-1 record and NASSARAWA right on his heels with a 3-2 record.
For the Middleweight championship, the formidable SHAABAN will go toe-to-toe with newomer DOGON MESSI. In what is arguably a matchup of the greatest athletes in Dambe today, these two warriors are sure to put on a show that will delight the thousands of onlookers in attendance and the hundreds of thousands watching at home. As evenly matched as they come, both warriors finished Season 03 with a record of 4-1.
Among the Heavyweight contenders, viral sensation ALI KANIN BELLO (“AKB”) will fight #1 ranked YANSANDA for the title. Despite a better record during the Season, YANSANDA will go into the fight as a heavy underdog to AKB, who has amassed millions of views on social media showcasing his formidable physique and punishing persona.
In addition to these three title fights, Dambe Warriors will host six Promotional Fights. These fights are some of the most exciting of the evening because each winner earns a spot in Season 04 of Dambe Warriors League. On top of the incredibly high stakes, it is rumored that eastern European MMA fighters have reached out to league organizers in an effort to show the world that their skills are superior and that Nigerians don’t own the sport of Dambe.
SuperFight 03 aims to bring traditional Nigerian art and culture to millions within Nigeria’s borders and across the globe. Dambe Warriors League is seizing on an amazing opportunity to expand this sport and provide life-changing opportunities to thousands of Nigerians living in cities across the country while also increasing attention to a wider domestic and global audience.
In addition to the formal endorsement by the Ministries, Dambe Warriors League is sponsored by a group of incredible community organizations that value and promote Nigerian culture both domestically and internationally. These sponsors include: MTN, Bet9ja, Hero Hunter Power Bikes, Infinite Energy Drinks, Hypo, Power Oil, Pop Cola, AIICO, Infinix Mobile. Vaseline New Crystal, Alpha and Jam, Concepts and others who have committed to support this growing tradition.
Proud Nigerians and global fans, are invited to catch up on all the Dambe Warriors action for free on www.dambewarriors.com, the company’s YouTube channel, or Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and X accounts.
