Osimhen’s double not enough for Galatasaray
…Eagles sustain injury
It was a great game for Victor Osimhen in Galatasaray’s 3-3 draw at home against Kasimpasa in the Turkish Super Lig.
He finally opened his goals account since joining the club on loan from Serie A side, Napoli.
The Super Eagles star scored twice in the first half of the game before sustaining injury as he was replaced in the second half of the game, resulting in his side’s capitulation despite leading 3-1 in the first half.
Osimhen broke the deadlock in the 20th minute with a clinical finish and eight minutes later, he doubled Galatasaray’s lead with an exquisite strike.
Mauro Icardi joined the goal scoring fray, adding a third for the hosts in the 34th minute.
Though the visitors pulled one back afterwards, Galatasaray’s dominance remained evident.
Despite appearing injured, Osimhen persevered and finished the first half alongside his teammates, having initially signaled to the bench for substitution.
He was however replaced by Dries Mertens at the start of the second half with the away team getting their two goals after Osimhen’s removal from the game.
Haris Hajradinović made it 3-2 in the 83rd minute of the game before turning provider for Nuno Da Costa in the fifth minute of the additional time to complete the comeback.
This impressive display marks Osimhen’s first goals for Galatasaray, building on his three assists since joining from Napoli.
Last season, the 25-year-old played 25 Serie A games for Napoli, scoring 15 goals and providing three assists.
