The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday confirmed the arrest of four individuals accused of forging classified documents from government agencies, including the State House in Abuja. The arrest followed a report from the Special Assistant to the President and an extensive investigation by the IGP-Special Investigation Unit.

The suspects—Khuzaifa Tafida, Zakari Abdullahi, Abdullahi Baba, and Adeyemo Morufu—are charged with forgery, job racketeering, impersonation, and obtaining money under false pretenses. They are part of a syndicate that forged official documents to deceive victims and extort money by falsely promising jobs at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, and other government agencies.

Tafida and Abdullahi were accused of forging documents that appeared to be from the office of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, and the State House. They then presented these forged documents to the Inspector-General of Police’s office, claiming to recommend 13 people for the 2022 Nigeria Police Special Recruitment.

Following suspicions raised by the documents and a petition from the Special Assistant to the President, an investigation was launched, leading to the suspects’ arrest. The investigation later uncovered further involvement from other suspects.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to forging documents from multiple government offices to defraud victims by promising them jobs. Authorities recovered forged documents, stamps, and N1,700,000, along with other incriminating items.
