Spyro responds to criticism on his performance of ‘Only Fine Girl’ in church
Nigerian singer Oludipe David aka Spyro, has addressed the recent debate surrounding his performance at Harvesters International Gospel Center’s Christmas carol service in Lagos.
Spyro encountered criticism for performing his hit song “Only Fine Girl” during a drama presentation at the church event.
The 33-year-old singer explained on his social media account where he emphasized that, despite his celebrity status, he has the right to serve God and worship like any other church member.
“I can serve God like the rest of you. I’ve been a member of Harvesters for well over 7 years, and I serve in two departments,” he expressed.
Spyro explained that the circulating video captured a segment of a drama presentation called Fantasia at the church’s annual carol service. He highlighted that the event was free for all attendees, with complimentary tickets.
“The Carol was completely FREE for all. The tickets were free!” he stated.
The singer concluded his response by urging understanding, emphasizing his humanity, Christian faith, and active participation in a genuine church community.
Other celebrities invited to join the Christmas Carol included Daniel Effiong, Bisola Ayeola, Dorathy Bachor, Sharon Ooja, Uzor Arukwe, Adeh Gbolahan, and Kenneth Ophopho.
