Warri Effurun Peace Marathon: Olu of Warri pledges more support

The Olu of Warri Ogiame Atuwatse III has given his royal blessings and also financial support to the Warri Effurun Peace Marathon which has been running for six years in his domain.
Speaking while receiving officials of the Warri Effurun Peace Marathon in his Palace, the Olu of Warri welcomed the initiative, saying that he clearly identifies with the ideals of the race and would support anything that would bring peace to Warri and its environs.
This year’s race is billed for November 26, it will start at Airport Road Effurun and terminate at the Warri Township Stadium.
“Everything that encourages peaceful existing like sports anything that will bring positives to Warri has my support,” said Ogiame Atuwatse 111
He enjoined the citizens of Warri to turn out en mass and urged the participants to be fully fit before embarking on the 10km race
Speaking on the visit Mrs Joyce Bozimo the chief promoter of the WEPM said it was encouraging that the Olu of Warri was throwing his weight behind the race.
“The essence of the visit was to brief his royal highness on the race and let him know something like this happening yearly.
“We are glad to have his blessings and it can only motivate us to put up a good race. Everyone is qualified to run, professional athletes, fun seekers and kit fit enthusiasts.”
