“A Harvest of Joy”: Nigerian Navy Secondary School Ojo Teachers Moved to tears as Class of 2006 Executes Homecoming CSR

LAGOS — In an event described as unprecedented in the history of the school, the Nigerian Navy Secondary School Ojo Class of 2006 returned to their alma mater on Friday, February 13, 2026, to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Moving beyond traditional infrastructure projects, the alumni focused on a deeply personal mission: “Honoring our heroic teachers”.

The alumni honored over 150 current and retired teachers with personalized gift boxes, cash tokens and journals of appreciation. The emotional weight of the day was captured by Mrs. Uzoechi, a veteran educator who attended in regal purple, she stated that many teachers shed tears of joy, she herself was profoundly moved to emotion upon reading the personal testimonies written by her former students.

“I am fulfilled that my labour is bearing endless fruits,” she shared, reflecting on the impact the ’06 Set is now having on their own children and communities. Other retired veteran teachers in attendance were Mr Olayiwola, Mrs Umejiburu and Mr Agboola.

The day also provided a powerful moment of restoration for a retired teacher who had been battling illness and facing life after amputation. Arriving in a state of despair, she was transformed by the overwhelming reception from the alumni, eventually stating, “Indeed, God is great”.

Represented by their Excos and members, including Governor Adeiza Akinyele, PRO Nneoma Nwamaka, and Captain Adams Adejo who made speeches of tribute to the teachers, the Class of 2006 has set a new standard for alumni impact.

By prioritizing the emotional and financial welfare of the educators who built their foundation, they proved that a teacher’s true legacy is branded in the hearts of their students forever.
