Amusan takes silver in women’s 100m hurdles at World Championships

:Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan won the silver medal in the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on Tuesday, finishing in 12.29 seconds.

The world record holder ran a strong race but was beaten to the gold by Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambundji, who set a new national record of 12.24s.

America’s Grace Stark took the bronze medal in 12.34s, while Masai Russell finished fourth in 12.44s.Amusan, 28, was chasing her second world title after making history in 2022 in Oregon, where she became the first Nigerian and the first African to win the 100m hurdles crown. Though she missed out on gold this time, the silver medal adds to her long list of achievements, which include the world record of 12.12s, several Diamond League wins, and a Commonwealth Games gold.

This silver is her second World Championships medal and another sign of her place among the best hurdlers in the world.

For Nigeria, her performance once again shows why she remains one of the country’s most reliable and successful athletes on the global stage.
