Arsenal shows interest in signing Osimhen
Arsenal has made contact over a possible move for in-demand Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
This was reported by the PUNCH Sports Extra reports that said the English team hopes to sign him from the Italian side, Napoli.
The 25-year-old forward has made a name for himself as one of the most prolific strikers in Europe during his three-and-a-half-year spell with Napoli, after scoring 67 goals in 119 appearances across all competitions.
Osimhen netted 26 goals in 32 Serie A matches last season to win the Golden Boot and fire the Partenopei to their first Scudetto title in three decades.
The Nigeria international, who is currently playing the Africa Cup of Nations(AFCON), decided to commit his future to Napoli in December by signing a contract extension until June 2026.
However, amid reported interest from a host of top European clubs, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis revealed last weekend that Osimhen would leave the club in the summer.
De Laurentiis stated that Osimhen was likely to join Real Madrid, PSG or a top English club, with Arsenal and Chelsea believed to be the main contenders from the Premier League for his signature.
