Asisat Oshoala Academy resumes in style
FC Barcelona forward and Nigerian international Asisat Oshoala has reiterated her desire to ensure as many young girls as possible achieve their dream of making a successful career off football like her.
The 28-year-old who set up the Asisat Oshoala Academy, in partnership with Women Win and USA-based sportswear manufacturing outfit, Nike to help unearth new talents promised not to rest on her oars.
According to officials of the Oshoala Academy, arrangements are in top gear to ensure the second stanza of the season begins in style after a hugely successful first stanza.
“The second stanza kicks off this January and is scheduled to end in June 2023.” a statement issued by the academy affirmed.
The academy kicked off its activities in July 2022 and ended the first session of the season in style in December 2022.
Among the achievements of the first stanza of the season last year was the winning of the recently held Football4girls tournament in Lagos state, with over 16 teams participating in the event
The coaches resumed on Monday with core lectures and training through the assistance of Women Win, while the academy girls will resume fully on Monday, 23 January.
The academy is planning to hold one of its projects code-named “SHE” Project, which is scheduled to hold in Mushin, Lagos, later in January 2023.
With seven goals to her name already this season with Barcelona, Oshoala says she is keen to make a positive impact on others coming behind.
