Diri stressed the significance of these projects and cautioned against the false promises of opposing political parties that "do not mean well" for the community

Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa, and the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the upcoming Nov. 11 elections, has expressed his confidence in securing a resounding victory in the town of Trofani.

Governor Diri made this assertion during a spirited campaign rally held in Trofani, Adagbari, Tumgbo Agbere, and Odoni, all located in the Sagbama Local Government Area on Tuesday.

Speaking to an enthusiastic crowd of PDP supporters, Diri praised Trofani as a peaceful community with dedicated PDP supporters.

He appealed for increased support from the area and urged the residents to be discerning in their choices, cautioning them against falling for “empty promises” from rival political parties.

The governor seized the opportunity to inaugurate several essential infrastructure projects in the region, including an electrification project, a 100-meter concrete road, a rehabilitated culvert, and a hospital.

The electrification project notably connected the community to the national grid, ensuring improved access to electricity.

Diri stressed the significance of these projects and cautioned against the false promises of opposing political parties that “do not mean well” for the community.

Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Mr. Collins Cocodia, a native of Trofani, further reiterated Governor Diri’s commitment to the welfare of the people in the area and Bayelsa as a whole.

He urged the residents to turn out in large numbers and deliver 100 percent of their votes for the governor’s re-election bid. Cocodia commended Diri for his support to the community during and after a recent flood disaster and for his inclusive appointments and development initiatives.

Hon. Ebizi Ndiomu, the member representing Sagbama Constituency III in the Bayelsa House of Assembly, emphasized that the PDP resonated strongly with the Agbere people, who were content with the current government’s performance.

The Director-General of Diri Campaign Council, Hon. Mitema Obordor, noted that Governor Diri had excelled in office and deserved a second term due to his outstanding performance in safeguarding the lives and property of Bayelsa residents.

The rally also witnessed a significant political development, as more than 5,000 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Sagbama constituency defected to the PDP.

This mass defection is seen as a considerable boost for Governor Diri’s re-election bid.

With Trofani’s residents showing strong support for the PDP and the governor’s impressive track record, the stage is set for an intense battle in the upcoming elections, as Governor Diri and his party strive to secure a total victory in the region and continue their commitment to the development and well-being of Bayelsa State.
