Naira Marley in police custody; interrogation into Mohbad’s death continues
On Tuesday night, the Lagos State Police Command declared controversial singer Azeez Fashola, alias Naira Marley, had been taken into custody in relation to the controversial death of his former record label signee, Ilerioluwa Aloba, alias Mohbad.
The Public Relations Officer(PRO) of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said, “Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, has been taken into custody for interrogation and other investigation activities.”
In a tweet on Tuesday night, Naira Marley announced his arrival in Lagos and he said he was back to help in the ongoing probe into Mohbad’death, while noting that he would be meeting with the police.
He said, “I’d like to share that I’ve just arrived back in Lagos, Nigeria to assist the authorities with the ongoing investigation. It’s important I do my part for Imole.
“I’ll be meeting with the police with hopes for the truth to be uncovered and for justice to prevail.”
MohBad died on September 12th at age 27.
The police had earlier invited Naira Marley and controversial music promoter, Balongun Eletu, aka Sam Larry (now in police custody), for questioning over Mohbad’s demise.
Last week the police also confirmed that pathologists had concluded the autopsy conducted on Mohbad and they were awaiting the result.
The police had also arrested the nurse who reportedly injected the deceased singer before his demise on Tuesday, September 12th.
A coroner’s inquest into Mohbad’s death started at the Lagos State Magistrate’s Court in Ikorodu last Friday.
