NPFL Round-Up: Rangers Slip, Rivers Struggle as Pillars Shine
It was a weekend of mixed results in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), as teams chasing the title dropped points while those fighting relegation picked up important wins.
League leaders Rangers International missed the chance to extend their lead after playing a goalless draw with Barau United in Enugu. Rangers controlled most of the game but failed to take their chances, and a goal they thought had won it was ruled out for offside.

Rivers United also had another disappointing outing, losing 2-0 away to Warri Wolves. The result adds to their poor run on the road and puts pressure on their title push.
At the bottom of the table, teams showed strong fight to stay up. Remo Stars secured a narrow 1-0 win over Shooting Stars in a tight match. Kano Pillars were the biggest winners of the weekend, beating Bendel Insurance 4-0. The heavy loss adds to Bendel Insurance’s struggles, following recent changes involving coach Kennedy Boboye.

One of the biggest surprises came in Lafia, where Kun Khalifa FC defeated Nasarawa United 1-0. The home team created many chances, but Kun Khalifa scored a late goal to take all three points.
Elsewhere, Kwara United boosted their survival hopes with a 3-0 win over El-Kanemi Warriors. Katsina United also picked up a 1-0 win against Niger Tornadoes.
On the road, Enyimba FC fought back to earn a 2-2 draw against Wikki Tourists, a result that adds to Wikki’s difficult season.
With the season getting closer to the end, every point is becoming more important—both in the title race and the battle to avoid relegation.
