Sanwo-Olu receives Canadian minister, explores partnership opportunities with Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday received Canada’s Minister for International Development, Randeep Singh Sarai, during a courtesy visit at Lagos House, Marina.The meeting focused on areas of mutual interest and possible partnerships between the Lagos State Government and Canada, according to the governor.

Mr Sanwo-Olu disclosed details of the visit in a post shared on his official Facebook page after the meeting.

“I received the Canadian Minister for International Development, Mr. Randeep Singh Sarai, today at Lagos House, Marina, on a courtesy visit,” the governor wrote.“We had a good conversation around partnership opportunities and areas of mutual interest.”

Although details of the proposed areas of collaboration were not immediately disclosed, the visit comes amid increasing diplomatic and development engagements between Lagos State and international partners in areas such as infrastructure, education, technology, climate resilience, and economic development.Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, has in recent years attracted growing international attention due to its expanding economy, population growth, and strategic role in West Africa’s business landscape.

Canada has also maintained bilateral development relations with Nigeria across sectors including governance, education, healthcare, gender inclusion, and economic empowerment.

The meeting at Lagos House further highlights ongoing efforts by the Sanwo-Olu administration to strengthen international partnerships aimed at supporting development initiatives in the state.
